Multi terminal DC grid based on VSC has become the research hotspot, because of many superiorities, especially, on renewable energy source integration such as multiple wind farms and solar power stations, and flexible access to multi-power supplies and multi-infeed systems.
The development of power semiconductor devices is the basis of the progress of DC grid applications. A novel power semiconductor device, IGCT Plus, is developed to improve the performances of the cost, loss and reliability of the major equipment for DC Grid. The bottleneck problem of IGCT application in power grid was solved.
On the other hand, major equipment, such as AC/DC converter, DC circuit breaker, DC transformer, DC tropper, is the main factor restricting DC grid progress.
The topic will focuse on the the scientific research and product manufacturing process of the novel power semiconductor devices and equipment. Key technologies of novel power semiconductor devices will be illustrated. Major equipment based on novel devices and new topologies will be presented. Several advanced demonstration projects of DC Grids and AC/DC hybrid systems will be introduced.
